Two recordings from different implementations of a system for live performance, consisting of optimal transport–based spectral morphs between recordings of chaotic synthesis via recursive nonlinear feedback.

The first piece builds on this system and couples it with a live chaotic synthesis procedure arranged with machine-listening tools which, besides dynamically enabling the same process through feature extraction following rough timbre descriptions, produces live speech synthesis which recursively affects the other elements of the process as well.

The methodology employed in this work, which involves the real-time distribution of attention to parse the results of juxtaposing disparate materials, renders the performer as a regulator adjacent to the machinic processes, and, with any luck, tries to make flat issues of agency, proficiency, improvisation, or experience.
